No. 90: Spooky tree

The start of this weeks abstract theme, and I took a walk through the park to see what I pictures I could get and seeing these trees bathed in the evening sun. There was no Photoshop used in this shot, I simply kept the shutter speed low and zoomed out. The effect is mad on your eyes. I like the movement created by the zoom blur....and also the face in the centre of the tree that I've just noticed as I'm writing this post, can you spot it? Spooky.

No. 89: Storming end to the week!

This is the last photo for this weeks theme of macro shots. I'd bought some Star Wars Lego for the girls to play with....honestly, not for me (well maybe a little, as I ended up taking over building the speeder that came with this feller). Next week I'm planning on going a bit abstract so...

No. 88: Mint photo!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, Mint Aero, it's so nice. As you can imagine the subject in this picture did not last long. After a hard day in the garden building the extension to the decking area. I was a little pushed for what to photograph today until Ruth came to the rescue with this chocolatey delight.

No. 87: Weed seed.

Another working week over and when I pulled up on the drive I spotted this Dandelion about to spread its seed everywhere (oo-er). I thought it better to bring it in and take its picture. More close up stuff to come.

No. 86: Fruity pic'

Just a quick one tonight; here's a photo of the worlds most fiddly fruit, the Pomegranate. It didn't take too long to set up and shoot, but now I have two halves of a Pomegranate I don't know what to do with now.

No. 85: Snail snap

I found this little fella resting on our garden fence and thought I'd better take a closer look! He was a bit shy but he did eventually poke is eyes out to have a mooch around. I hope I can find more characters like him for the rest of the week.

No. 84: Leaf it up to the kids

The second day of using my Macro lens, I thought that I'd take the dog for a walk and get the kids foraging for stuff in the park. As you can guess (and not wanting to stereotype), with having two girls they wanted to do was pick as many flowers as they could but as I have a few flower shots, I wanted them to try and find leaves, seeds or anything else that was as interesting as flowers. The girls loved getting out there amongst nature and it made them look closely at the wildlife that is on their doorstep. Bring on the bugs!

No. 83: Macro-chips

After a weekend full of giants, this week I'm going small with some close up photos using my macro lenses. This first pic is of my old, dead laptop's innards and shows the tiny components and structures that make up the circuit board. This is the first of this weeks theme, I hope you like.

No. 82: Electrical field

After seeing the Giants in town yesterday, it seemed apt to take these giants that stretch across many of our farm land fields in this country, as much a feature on our landscape as the forests used to be before modern farming over took the woodland we used to have. This is the last of this weeks theme, still yet to decide on the next one.

No. 81: Sea Odyssey

Today's photo is a break from this weeks theme, as I had to use one of the pics I took of these two giants that walked through town. It was the second day of the Sea Odyssey, and the little girl with her dog companion walked the streets of Liverpool, her uncle took a different route around town but eventually they both found each other on the kings dock, where they were so pleased to see one another they had a little hug.

I had so many pic's it was hard to pick one, but this one just before the embrace seemed fitting. It was an awesome sight to see these characters stomping (and scooting) through the streets of Liverpool. Those crazy French people from Royal De Luxe are truly geniuses.

No. 80: Field trip.

Here's tonight's photo from the farming theme I've been doing this week. Driving passed this field I was caught by the ploughed lines that directed my eye off into the background. I also liked the dramatic clouds in the sky that have been ever present over the last few days.

No. 79: A ruined photo.

Here it is; the old ruin I found yesterday. I'm not too sure what type of out building this was but it was strange inside. You can see on this side, a door takes you into a single room with no other way in or out, opposite the entrance there is what appears to be a fire place. Round the back, where the roof has collapsed, there seems to be some sort of storage and there are also old bee hives. It's all very mysterious! I've seen a tractor I want to get a pic of tomorrow but I may have to ask the farmer nicely if I can take a pic.

No. 78: Plough pic

The weather was not great this evening, so when it came to taking tonight's pic it had to be a quick one before getting soaked. I found this trailer plough in a field opposite the main farm house, I liked the repetition of the blades as they carry off into the distance. I found what appears to be an old wrecked farm building not too far from this location so I might try that next.

No. 77: Feeling a little horse.

After driving around some nice countryside we came across a field full of horses. The smallest horse came over after being beckoned by handfuls of long grass. The girls loved the horse but when it came to getting the grass from their hand into the horses mouth they went all squeely and ran away with grass going everywhere. Once I showed them how it was done, and with them realising that the horse was not going to bite their hands off, they where both shovelling bundles of grass into its mouth.

No. 76: Fields of gold

Here we are; the start of a new week and a new theme. This week I'm looking at shooting around the local country side and to start with a farmers field in Cronton full of Oil seed rape which stretches on for miles.

No. 75: Bridge end

So here's the last one for this week. I had to take these two icon bridges from my home town, Runcorn. You get two for the price of one in this shot; The Britannia rail bridge behind Runcorn bridge (or the Silver Jubilee bridge as it's officially known).

I'm really pleased with this one, the weather was kind to me the cloud gives a bit of interest in the sky,the colours reflected in the water are varied with blue's and red's.

This weeks theme has been a bit of a challenge, as I had to do a bit of travelling to get some interesting subjects but I'm pleased with the result. Next week I'm thinking of an agricultural theme, with all of the Oil seed rape plants blossoming on the local farms and the light evenings there should be plenty to shoot.

No. 74: Under the bridge

I couldn't get the a shot of the bridge I wanted this morning: an old transporter bridge in Warringon, I just couldn't get close enough because of fences and barriers and stuff. After driving around for a bit I ended up in Walton (near Warrington) and walked down the canal way before coming across this little brick road bridge. The sun was reflecting off the water on to the under side of the bridge. I was all very peaceful until Emily stung her self on a nettle.

No. 73: Picasso bridge?

Here's tonight's pick; I had to wait until dark to take this, so it's a little later than usual. This is one of many brick railway arches around my way and I've always liked the odd perspective it gives. At either end the of the tunnel, the entrances follow the contour of the embankment, rather than running parallel to each other. The brickwork inside has been constructed in a way that it spirals around its walls and roof. It's a quirky little thing.

No. 72: The Quay to a good photo.

After I finished work at took a trip to Salford Quays to get a shot of this bridge; I would like to get a night or dusk shot down here as it looks great all lit up. I like the reflection in the canal and I'm quite pleased with the sky.

No. 71: Swing shot.

A quick trip to the Runcorn to get a picture of the Old Quay swing bridge that spans the Manchester Ship Canal on to Wigg Island. As the sun was soon setting I didn't have much time as it would soon be dark. Tomorrow I'll hopefully get over to Salford Quays to get some pic's.

No. 70: Parked up.

This footbridge was taken at Newsham park, I was waiting for Ruth as she had gotten out of work early, and Ian-cab was on call to pick her up. As the park is just round the corner I thought that I'd take the opportunity to get today's photo taken.

No. 69: A bridge not too far.

After a journey that should have taken 1 hour & 40mins top; we all got home two hours later, damn bank holiday traffic. We had a great time at Hafod farm, all of the buildings are the original, renovated farm buildings and in the shop you can buy vintage furniture that has been restored by Peter, (check it out on http://www.hafodfarmfurniture.com) and get a coffee from Jo.

Betws y Coed is a lovely village, I would recommend it to you all (just make sure you find a parking space early or walk there). Next time we go I'm thinking of climbing the top of Snowdon!

Back to the photo's; this week is Bridge week, and to start off this little bridge/tunnel guiding you into Stat Moers park just around the corner from home.

No. 68: The perfect shot

Here's the final shot of this weeks theme of the girls. Chilling out at the falls in Betws-y-Coed, after walking the legs off them both. I've got some great shots of the falls which I'll add to the Scrapbook later. With the end of another week comes the beginning of a new theme, (which I've get to decide).

No. 67: We all scream for ice cream

Hmmmmm, everyone loves ice cream. After a lovely walk along the sea front at Llandudno, a quick ice cream stop for the girls before heading down to the shops to buy some seaside fare.

No. 66: Camping it up

Here's photo number 66, I know its late but we're all in Hafod Farm,  Betws y Coed, in Snodonia and after battling with the Easter bank holiday traffic and getting all the gear up I eventually got the pic' taken.

The problem was, no internet connection as my 3G connection is way too slow. I am now sorted with a good connection from the sites cafe/shop and enjoying a nice coffee while Ruth tidy's the tent. I should get today's pic' on later with more pic of the girls.

No. 64: Exhausted!

The third photo of the week, and both my girls are ready for sleeping after a late one last night for Sophie at her friends, (good job it's not a school night).

I managed to get this pic done despite a rubbish evening so far. I had a doctors appointment that I was rushing back for, not before feed the girls and sorting the animals. Then after making the appointment on time, my cars exhaust fell off on the way back home. With the bock box scraping on the floor I crawled home and as you would have it, every road I went down had a million speed bumps!

No. 62: Say cheese! (Please!)

Guess who wanted to stay out this evening and who wanted to go home. That's right my youngest, Emily, she'd had enough and had run out of smiles, (boo). Sophie on the other hand would have stayed out until the sun went down. This week I'll be taking pic's of my girl's, whether they like it not!

No. 61: On reflection.....

The end of colour week and I thought that this reflection image gave the impression of water at night or dusk. This is just the reflection of clothes on foil, but it could be mistaken for some type of harbour with the shops light catching the water.

The end of another week and the the start of a new tomorrow, which I'm thinking of dedicating it to my two daughters.
